Built to Last
When a valve has to perform day in, day out across years of pressure surges, temperature extremes, and demanding commercial schedules, the engineering behind it matters enormously. Rain Bird’s PGA series plastic globe and angle valves were designed specifically for high-end residential and light commercial irrigation systems where failure simply isn’t an option. Backed by a 3-year trade warranty and verified through rigorous independent testing, this is a valve that earns its place in every quality installation.
Construction & Performance
- Water-tight body-to-bonnet seal — engineered to hold through extreme conditions; in Cycle Surge Testing PGA valves outlasted the nearest competitor more than 2.5:1
- Filtered pilot flow — resists debris and clogging for consistent, long-term actuation reliability
- Slow-closing mechanism — prevents water hammer and protects downstream pipework and fittings from pressure shock damage
- Quiet solenoid operation — robust electrical design minimises valve noise across years of cycling
- Normally closed, forward flow design — safe default state with straightforward installation orientation
Serviceability
- Multi-drive screws — Phillips, flathead, or hex accepted, so any technician can service the valve with standard tools on hand
- One-piece solenoid with captured plunger and spring — no loose components to lose in the field; straightforward swap-out without specialist tools
- Manual internal bleed — operates the valve without allowing water into the valve box, enabling pressure regulator adjustment without activating the controller
Options & Compatibility
- Field-installable PRS-D pressure regulating dial — regulates up to 100 psi (6.9 bar) to optimise sprinkler performance without a separate regulator
- Accepts latching solenoid for use with Rain Bird battery-operated controllers up to 150 psi (10.35 bar)
- Compatible with ESP-LXD and ESP-LXIVM decoders for two-wire decoder system installations
