Choosing a water transfer pump

The right pump depends on how much water needs to be moved and how quickly, as well as the distance and height the water needs to travel.

Pipe diameter, pipe length, vertical lift, fittings and valves all contribute to the total head the pump needs to overcome.

For longer transfer distances or systems involving significant elevation changes, pump selection should be based on the calculated system duty rather than maximum advertised flow.
