Omnipure OKDF30/1 KDF/GAC Inline Water Filter Cartridge
Omnipure OKDF30/1 KDF/GAC Inline Water Filter Cartridge
Omnipure OKDF30/1 KDF/GAC Inline Water Filter Cartridge
The Omnipure OKDF30/1 combines two filtration media in one compact inline cartridge: KDF, a high-purity copper-zinc alloy, and granular activated carbon (GAC). With a capacity of 30,000 litres and 1-micron filtration, it is designed for a range of town-water applications, from underbench filters to beverage equipment.
KDF uses electrochemical oxidation-reduction reactions, while GAC provides adsorption and entrapment of contaminants with a broad contaminant reduction and cyst-reduction capability. KDF also has a bacteriostatic effect that helps control growth within the media; this does not mean the cartridge sterilises unsafe water.
Key Features
- Dual-media filtration: KDF copper-zinc alloy combined with granular activated carbon.
- Stated capacity: Up to 30,000 litres, subject to source-water quality and operating conditions.
- Fine filtration: 1-micron rating.
- Cyst reduction: Giardia and Cryptosporidium reduction
- Two connection configurations: Choose JJ push-to-fit or BB female threaded ends.
- Versatile inline format: For compatible underbench filters, watercoolers, beverage dispensers, coffee machines, ice-makers and hydroponic applications using town water.
Available Fitting Configurations
JJ — ¼ Inch John Guest Quick Connect
Built-in John Guest push-to-fit connections for ¼-inch tubing, described as 6.2mm in the supplied information. Cut tubing square, not diagonally, and insert until it bottoms in the fitting.
BB — ¼ Inch Female Threaded
Female threaded connections at both ends for attachment to compatible ¼-inch male threaded fittings. Use thread-sealing tape and tighten firmly in accordance with installation instructions.
Technical Specifications
- Brand: Omnipure
- Model: OKDF30/1, also shown as OKDF-30/1
- Format: Inline replacement cartridge
- Media: KDF and granular activated carbon
- Filtration rating: 1 micron
- Rated capacity: 30,000 litres
- Maximum flow: 5 L/min
- Fitting options: JJ ¼-inch push-to-fit; BB ¼-inch female threaded at both ends
- Pressure protection: PRV must be installed upstream of the filter
- Initial flushing: 5 minutes before use
- Replacement: At least annually, at rated capacity, or when flow slows, whichever occurs first
Installation Instructions
- Install a pressure reducing valve before the filter. A PRV is required; this cartridge listing does not include an undersink kit, tap or PRV - available separately
- Observe the flow-direction marking so water passes through KDF before GAC.
- Keep flow at or below 5 L/min.
- Flush for five minutes before use to remove loose carbon fines.
- For JJ fittings, cut tubing square and push it fully into the fitting.
- For BB fittings, use thread-sealing tape and tighten firmly.
Removing JJ Factory Dust-Protection Tubing
JJ cartridges are supplied with short tubing pieces in the ends to protect against dust. Hold the collet against the filter body with a fingernail and gently withdraw the tubing. Do not pull it out without releasing the collet, as this can damage the fitting. If damage occurs, stop installation and contact the supplier about returning the filter or obtaining replacement collets. Damage caused by improper removal may void the warranty.
Replacement and Maintenance
Replace the cartridge at least annually, when its rated capacity is reached, or when flow becomes too slow, whichever happens first. Commercial and office installations may require more frequent changes because of higher usage.
Important Water-Use Restrictions
- Not intended for microbiologically unsafe water.
- Bacteriostatic media properties and cyst-reduction claims do not make this cartridge a disinfection system for drinking water.
Ideal For
- Compatible underbench filtration systems.
- Town-water-fed watercoolers and beverage dispensers.
- Coffee machines and ice-makers with compatible connections and flow requirements.
- Compatible hydroponic systems supplied with town water.
